Vegan diet to prevent cancer

Besides the development of scientific research and medications, still people are unaware of how to prevent the risk of cancer. Research of National Cancer Institute suggests, as much as 80 percent of all cancer are due to identified factors, and there are potentially preventable. Thirty percent of the cancers are due to tobacco use, and as much as 30 to 50 percent are due to foods. It has been now well-established that positive dieting and life style changes can help fight cancer as well as prevent the growth of this dreaded disease.

Vegan diet for cancer
British Physician, Dennis Burkett, in 1970, observed that fiber diet help to reduce disease related to digestive tract.  He found that in countries where diets are high in fiber there were fewer cases of colon cancer. It was proven to be true around the world.
A 2012 analysis of all the best studies concluded that vegetarians have significantly lower cancer rates. Studies show that plant-based diet is better than a meat-based diet in preventing and fighting cancer.
Recent researches have shown that, a vegan diet is more beneficial than a vegetarian diet in cancer prevention. The vegan diet consists only of plant based food such as vegetables, fruits, nuts and grains.
The difference between a vegan and vegetarian diet is that a vegan diet does not include any foods that come from animals, including diary product such as milk, butter and yoghurt.

Cancer fighting fruits and vegetables
A balanced plant based diet filled with a variety of vegetables, fruits, soy, nuts, whole grains, and beans can help lower the risk of many types of cancer. Veganism and cancer prevention means making a daily habit of eating raw fruits and vegetables. The substances like phenols, flavones found in fruit and vegetables are cancer fighting agents.
Eating a colorful variety gives you the best protection. Vegetable such as carrots, butternuts, squash, pumpkin, spinach, broccoli and sweet potatoes are excellent sources of beta carotene. Fruits like Mango, Pappaya, and pink grape are rich in beta carotene, tomatoes should be an integral part of vegan diet.
Vitamin C helps in cancer prevention by fighting the nitrites in foods that are carcinogens and by strengthening the immune system. Fruits such as tangerine, oranges and grape fruits, gooseberry are rich in Vitamin C.
The cruciferous family vegetables like Broccoli, Cauliflower, Cabbage, Kale and mustard greens are the most potent foods against cancer. The fresh fruits and vegetables are the best sources of antioxidants such as beta-carotene, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Selenium, it can provide much needed relief to the body by fighting cancerous cells.

Fiber rich food
Eating fiber can prevent cancers of the colon and abdomen, fiber which is too large to be absorbed into the bloodstream, moves through the intestinal tract and out of your body waste by products, dead and mutated cells, and toxins are carried away from blood stream and lymphatic system to be eliminated via sweat, mucus, urine, feces etc. Fiber is like an intestinal broom. It picks up toxins deposited in your gut and carries them out.
Cancer vegan diet recommends at least 20 to 25 gm fiber every day.  The vegan fiber diet includes whole grains, wheat bran, beans, legumes, apples, broccoli and other vegetables.

Effect of Fat
Fat affects body, and it stimulate hormone production and this raises breast cancer risk. It is also linked to the bile acid production that causes colon cancer. The total fat intake should be kept below 50 gm per day for most of adults. It has to be vegetable fat source high in monosaturated fats, such as olive oil and canoae oil and oils high in Omega-3 fatty acids. Seasame seeds, walnuts, sunflower seeds and flaxseed are good plant based source of Omega-3 fatty acids. To protect cancer-fighting properties of these oils, it is best to keep their use to cooking, but to avoid high temperatures as in deep frying of foods.

Soy for cancer
Soy is a plant protein with full of fiber, potassium, magnesium and other vitamins. Soy products like tofu, edamme, miso and soya milk are a big part of vegan diet. Soybeans are widely used as a healthy source of protein that replaces animal protein sources in a diet. It is a good weapon in fighting and preventing many tumors and cancers of the rectum, colon, prostate, lung and breast. Besides this diet plan, many lifestyle changes such as being active, avoiding alcohol and smoking, adequate vitamin D from sunlight and a positive outlook are required to fight cancer.  Always consult a doctor before making a diet plan and lifestyle changes to fight cancer.
