Government Hospitals concentrating Organ transplantation

Organ transplantation facility is going to be in all major Government Hospitals. The Union Health Minister J.P.Nadda announced it at the Sixth Indian Organ Donation Day organised at Vigyan Bhavan. He said that, the government has taken some decisive initiatives to accelerate the number of organ donation and to open organ transplant facilities in all major government hospitals. He also urged people to take part in the organ donation campaign.

The health ministry reports show that, India need two lakh kidney donations every year, but right now it is less than 7,000- 8,000 kidney donations. The minister admitted the government’s delay on organ donation. He said, “Of course, there has been a delay by the government towards promoting organ donation, but the decision we have taken in the last one year will make this cause a meaningful activity’. He added that, his ministry has decided to conduct special training in Organ and tissue transplants in government hospitals.
